Satu lagi artikel mengenai gaya hidup digital. Kali ini Artikel lifestyle abad 21 berisi pergeseran sosio kultur yg sedang terjadi di Amerika Serikat. Pergeseran ini dipengaruhi pertumbuhan situs social network dan pengaruh mereka terhadapa nilai nilai keluarga. Artikel ini mencoba mendalami situasi dimana seorang anggota menghabiskan waktu main internet (terutama pada situs social network seperti myspace, facebook, dan friendster).

Siapa Pembuat Facebook ?

Mark Zuckerberg adalah programmer amerika yg membuat Facebook. Dia lahir tangal 14 mei 1984. Dia bersama teman sesama mahasiswa harvard di jurusan ilmu komputer (Dustin Moskovitz dan Chris Hughes). Saat ini facebook itu situs heharing sosial terpopuler di dunia dan Zuckerberg bekerja sebagai CEO Facebook.

Time Magazine mengklaim Zuckerberg sebagai salah satu sosok paling berpengaruh di dunia (per 2008). Dia dianggap sosok inspirasional dan berada pada urutan 52 dari 101 orang. Menurut profile wikipedia, Owner Facebook ini seorang yahudi atheis (info yg mungkin tidak diperlukan sih hehehe).

Sejarah Facebook

Mulanya Facebook diluncurkan pada tgl 4 Februari 2004 dari asrama Harvard, tempat dia tinggal. Awalnya Facebook itu cuma untuk mahasiswa hardvard, sampai akhirnya Zuckerberg memutuskan memperlebar sayap Facebook ke kampus lain. Dia dibantu teman sekamarnya Dustin Moskovitz. Pada awal musim panas, Zuckerberg and Moskovitz meluncurkan facebook pada hampur 45 sekolah dan ribuan orang menggunakannya. Dari sinilah bola salju bergulir menuju bentuk facebook yg kita kenal sekarang.

Facebook Platform

Pada 24 mei 2007, Zuckerberg mengumumkan platform Facebook, sebuah platform development bagi programmer yg ingin membuat aplikasi sosial di facebook. Pengumuman ini menarik perhatian komunitas developer. Hanya dalam kurun waktu mingguan, banyak aplikasi dibuat dan akhirnya ada jutaan pengguna. Saat ini, diperkirakan, ada lebih dari 400000 pengembang yg membuat aplikasi bagi platform facebook.

Pada 23 juli 2008, Zuckerberg mengumumkan peluncuran Facebook Connect, versi platform facebook yg bisa membantu membangun aplikasi sosial di website lain.

Facebook Beacon

Facebook Beacon adalah fitur iklan facebook. Bila google diberi nama adsense, maka facebook dinamai beacon. Layanan ini dimulai 6 november 2007 dan berfungsi membuat pengguna bisa berbagi informasi di bagian sidebar mengenai aktivitas browsing pada situs lain. Ambil contoh, pedagang ebay, bisa otomatis memberitaukan apa yg mereka sedang jual via facebook news feed.

Namun, masalahnya, beacon ini agak busuk dgn bau privasi. Program ini menjadi perhatian karena adanya pelanggaran privasi. Facebook dianggap gagal melindungi privasi pengguna. Saat itu, facebook belum menyediakan opsi menonaktfikan / mendelete beacon. Sejak desember 2007, melalui posting di blog facebook, masalah ini sudah selesai.

Pada tahun 2008, Forbes menobatkan dia sebagai orang terkaya ke 321 di amerika serikat. Total kekayaan dia sekitar 1,5 bilion dollar. Dia adalah orang termuda yg pernah masuk ke Forbes 400. Pada tahun 2009, sayangnya, kekayaan facebook ceo ini turun ke bawah 1 billion dollar.
